Audio is an intimate form of storytelling that allows journalists to connect with audiences while they live their lives. Though I’m a longtime podcast junkie, I first learned the nuts and bolts of the medium at Medill, where I studied the equipment, the industry, the story structure and character work that makes the greatest podcasts great. I learned more about podcasting during my fellowship at The Arizona Republic, where I sat in on the production of that newspaper’s political podcast and spoke as a guest on one episode about the opening of a migrant shelter. At The MetroWest Daily News, I’ve started an occasional narrative news podcast called The Daily News. Find those episodes below.
